When your child is a student at Bellevue Elementary School, it’s important to understand and have access to school procedures, rules, and important forms. Dear Boys and
Girls,
This is your
handbook. It tells you how we do things at Bellevue School.
You should read
all the pages with your family. It is your responsibility to follow the school
rules and procedures. Don’t worry if it seems like there is too much to
remember. There are lots of people to help you remember the rules and
procedures, including your teachers, your friends, your family, and other
adults at school. Everyone is here to help you do your best.
We have rules and
procedures because it’s best for everyone when people know what’s expected of
them. If you think about it, every place has rules and procedures: your house,
the movie theater, a sports stadium, and even the supermarket has rules.
Bellevue has to have rules, too. When everyone follows the rules, we all stay
safe, and we have the best opportunity to make and keep friends. Everyone
learns best when they feel safe and they’re with friends.

Arriving At School
First,
drop your stuff off at the classroom door or at the front of your class line on
the playground.
Walk
immediately to the playground, or go to the multipurpose room for breakfast.
No
one can loiter in the halls.
On rainy days, go to the multipurpose
room and sit down with your class. Wait until your teacher picks you up from
the multipurpose room. No one can be in the halls or on the playground.
Eating Breakfast at
School
2. Take your
yellow ticket out of your classroom’s basket.
3. Turn your
ticket in to Mrs. Rinnels.
4. You can
take only one thing: a muffin, cereal, or a bagel.
5. Say,
“Thank you,” to Mrs. Jahn when you are handed your food.
8. Go
outside immediately and wait for school to start.
Lining Up On the Playground
1. When you hear the bell, end
the game or activity you are playing.
2. Say good-bye to your
playmates and say “Thanks for the good time.”
3. Immediately go to your class
line.
4. Stand in single file without
touching anyone.
5. Wait for your teacher
Changing Classes
Sometimes students have to walk themselves to another
room, such reading class, or to the restroom or office.
Walk directly to the classroom where you are expected to go. Do not go anyplace else.
Walk the path your teacher has shown you. Do not take alternate routes.
Walk at a regular brisk pace.
Walk very quietly.
If you have to wait for your next teacher to invite you into the classroom, wait very quietly so that other nearby classes are not disturbed.
Getting Lunch
Walk silently in the halls to
lunch. Your teacher will walk you to your lunch table or to the lunch line.
If you have lunch from home,
you may start eating right away.
If you are getting hot lunch,
do not touch anyone when standing in line.
Hand your blue ticket to Mrs.
Rinnels.
Say “Thank you” to Mrs.
Jahn when you get your lunch.
Walk to your lunch table.
Lunchtime Rules
Eat your lunch during
lunchtime. Do not give away your food.
You must stay seated during
lunchtime. You have 20-25 minutes to eat.
Use a quiet voice when you
talk.
Do not play with your food. Be
considerate of others.
Raise your hand if you have
to tell or ask the Supervisors anything.
Wait for the Supervisors to
dismiss your table to throw away garbage and go out to play.
Clean up after yourself and
others. Clear the table and the floor of all garbage.
Put your red tray in the
stack. Pour any leftover milk in the bucket without splashing.
Walk to the playground.
Leave your lunchbox or other
personal items on the playground where your class lines up.
No one may return to their
classroom or walk in the halls.
Dismissal from School
These are only things you can do at the end of the
day:
1.
Catch a bus
2.
Go to COOL SCHOOL
3.
Go away with an adult who’s supposed to pick you up
(You
cannot go to the playground to play)
If you take the bus, your teacher will walk you
to the bus line. Walk quietly and sit down in single file.
If you go to COOL SCHOOL, you must go there
immediately.
If you are waiting for
someone to pick you up, you must stay by the kindergarten wall, by Mrs. Aiello, until the
adult shows up. You cannot wait by yourself anywhere else on campus.
If you go home with an
adult, be
sure to say good-bye to your teacher and tell him or her that you’re going home
with .
If you are not sure what you
are supposed to do after school, tell your teacher.
How We Wait for the Bus
Walk with your teacher to the bus lines.
Sit down in the bus lines. Make straight lines.
Never leave the bus line. Wait for the bus with everyone else.
Wear your backpack or set it down on the ground. Do not swing anything.
Talk in a normal voice. No yelling.
Do not touch anyone.
Help others in your line wait patiently. Be nice to everyone waiting for the bus.
If you need help, raise your hand to get the attention of the bus duty teachers who watch out for you.
When the bus will be late, follow the Bus Duty teachers’ directions.
On rainy days, we all follow the same directions in the Multi-Purpose Room.
Consequences
What happens when you don’t follow
the rules or procedures
When rules or procedures are
not followed outside of the classroom:
1. The student is benched for
the rest of the recess time. The student may not talk with other students at
this time.
Homeroom teacher is notified
of the benching, verbally or in writing by the supervising adults.
2. After the second offense,
the student loses future recess privileges, and may be assigned a writing
reflection about his/her behavior, or may be assigned to afterschool detention,
or community service such as garbage pick-up during recess.
· Homeroom teacher may inform
the student’s parent after second incident.
· Homeroom teacher may
conference with parent or refer repeat offenders to Behavior Team.
· The student may be referred
to Mrs. Wilson for possible suspension.
· Staff may use other
consequences as appropriate to teach student to follow rules and procedures.
(Parents and students have the responsibility to read
and review the rules. Staff also ensures all rules and procedures are taught to
all students)

Estimados Muchachos y Muchachas,
Este manual es para ustedes. Les dice cómo hacemos las cosas en la Escuela
Bellevue.
Deben leer todas las páginas con su familia. Es su responsabilidad de
obedecer las reglas y procedimientos de la escuela. No se preocupen si les
parece que hay demasiado de recordar. Hay muchas personas para ayudarles
acordarse de las reglas y los procedimientos, incluyendo sus maestros, sus
amigos, su familia, y otros adultos en la escuela. Todo el mundo está aquí para
ayudarles que hagan su mejor.

Llegar a la
Escuela
Primero, deja tus cosas en la puerta de su sala o
enfrente de la línea de su clase en el patio de recreo.
Camina inmediatamente al patio de recreo, o ve al
salón mayor para el desayuno.
Nadie puede entretenerse en los pasillos.
Durante
los días de lluvia, ve al salón mayor y siéntate
con tu clase. Espere hasta que tu maestro vaya por ti del salón mayor. Nadie
puede estar en los pasillos o en el patio de recreo.
Comer
el Desayuno en la Escuela
1.
Tomar su desayuno tanto como llegues a la escuela, a las
8:30 A.M.
2.
Ve al Salón Mayor. Vas a ver muchas canastas en la mesa.
Saca tu billete de desayuno de la canasta de tu clase.
3.
Puedes tomar una cosa: un panecillo, un bagel, o cereal.
Todo el mundo recibe un cartón de leche.
4. Decir, “Gracias” a Mrs. Jahn cuando te da la comida.
5. Sentarte en la mesa en el salón mayor y terminar la comida. Nadie puede
comer o tomar fuera en el patio de recreo.
6.
Tirar toda de tu basura. Si no tomas toda de tu leche,
tira la leche sobrante en el cubo (sin salpicar).
7. Ir afuera inmediatamente y esperar para que empiece la escuela.
Hacer
Fila en
el Patio de Recreo
1.
Cuando escucha la campana,
termina el juego o actividad que estás jugando.
2.
Di adiós a tus compañeros y di
“Gracias por un buen tiempo.”
3.
Inmediatamente ve a la línea de
su clase.
4.
Párate en una fila singular sin
tocar a nadie.
5. Espera a tu maestro.
Cambio de Clases
A veces los estudiantes tienen
que caminar a otra sala, como la clase de lectura, o al baño, o a la oficina.
Caminar
directamente a la clase en donde te esperan. No vayas a ninguna otra parte.
Caminar la
senda que tu maestro te mostró. No toma caminos alternativos.
Caminar en un
paso ligero regular.
Caminar
silenciosamente.
Si tienes que
esperar que tu maestro próximo te invite a entrar a la sala, espera muy silenciosamente
para que no molestes a las clases cercanas.
Tomando el
Almuerzo
Caminar quietamente en los pasillos a comer. Tu maestro te caminará a la
mesa de comer o a la línea de comer.
Si tienes comida de casa, puedes empezar a comer inmediatamente.
Si vas a tomar comida caliente, no tocar a nadie cuando estás esperando en
la línea.
Dé tu billete azul a la Sra. Rinnels.
Decir “Gracias” a la Sra. Jahn cuando recibes tu almuerzo.
Caminar a la mesa de comer.
Si comes tu comida en la sala,
está seguro de tomar las Charolas Rojas a la cocina. Nunca se ponen las
charolas en la basura. Si ve una Charola Roja en la basura, ¡sácala!
Las Reglas de la Hora de Comer
Come su almuerzo durante la hora de comer. No des tu comida a nadie.
Tienes que quedarte sentado durante la hora de comer. Para comer tienes 20
a 25 minutos.
Usa una voz silenciosa cuando habla.
No juegas con la comida. Sé considerado de otros.
Levanta la mano si tienes que decir o preguntar algo a los Supervisores.
Espera la despedida de los Supervisores de tu mesa para tirar la basura y
salir a jugar.
Limpia las cosas tuyas y de otros. Limpia la mesa y el piso de toda la
basura.
Pon tu Charola roja en la pila. Tira la leche
sobrante en el cubo (sin salpicar).
Camina al patio de recreo.
Deja tu caja/bolsa en donde llevabas la comida u
otras cosas personales en el patio de recreo en donde tu clase forma fila.
Nadie puede volver a su clase ni caminar en los
pasillos.
La Despedida
de la Escuela
Tienes que salir de la
escuela en el modo que tu familia lo espera que lo hagas. No puedes hacer
ningunos cambios al plan.
Al fin del día solamente
puedes hacer estas cosas.
1.
Tomar el autobús
2.
Ir a “COOL SCHOOL”
3.
Ir con un adulto con quien
tiene el permiso de recogerte.
(No puedes ir al patio de recreo para jugar)
Si tomas
el autobús, tu maestro te va a llevar a la línea de
autobuses. Camina silenciosamente y siéntate en una fila singular.
Si vas
a “COOL SCHOOL”, tienes que ir allí inmediatamente.
Si
estás esperando a alguien que te va a recoger, tienes
que quedarte cerca de la pared de kindergarten,
cerca de la Sra. Aiello, hasta que el adulto venga. No puedes esperar sólo en
cualquier otra parte del recinto escolar.
Si vas
a casa con un adulto, está seguro de decirle adiós a
tu maestro y decirle que vas a casa con ____.
Si no
estás seguro de lo que debes hacer después de la escuela, dile a su maestro.
Cómo
Esperamos el Autobús
Camina con tu maestro a las líneas de los autobuses.
Siéntate en las líneas de autobuses. Haz líneas rectas.
Nunca salgas de la línea de autobuses. Espera por el autobús con todos los otros estudiantes.
Lleva tu mochila o ponla en el suelo. No des vueltas a ninguna cosa.
Habla en una voz normal. No grites.
No toques a nadie.
Ayuda a los otros en tu línea pacientemente. Sé amable a todos esperando el autobús.
Si necesitas ayuda, levanta la mano para llamar la atención de los maestros que están cuidando a los estudiantes.
Cuando el autobús va a llegar tarde, sigue las instrucciones de los maestros quienes tienen la función de esperar la llegada de los autobuses con ustedes.
Los días de lluvia, seguimos las mismas instrucciones en el Salón Mayor.
Consecuencias
Lo que pasa cuando no obedeces las reglas o procedimientos.
Cuando
las reglas o procedimientos no se obedecen fuera de la sala:
1.
El estudiante se sienta en banco por el resto del tiempo
de recreo. Al estudiante no se le permite hablar con otros estudiantes durante
este tiempo.
Se avisa al maestro de la clase
principal (Homeroom) que no tuviste el permiso de jugar, verbalmente o por
escrito por los adultos que son supervisores.
2.
Después de la segunda infracción, el estudiante pierde
privilegios futuros, y puede tener la tarea de escribir sobre su comportamiento,
o puede estar asignado a detención después de la escuela, o a servicio de la
comunidad como recoger a la basura durante el recreo.
·
El maestro de la clase principal (Homeroom) puede avisar
a los padres del estudiante después del segundo incidente.
·
El maestro de la clase principal (Homeroom) puede tener
una conferencia con los padres o remitir a los infractores de repetición al
Equipo de Comportamiento.
·
El estudiante puede estar remitido a la Sra.Wilson para
recibir posiblemente una suspensión.
·
El personal puede usar otras consecuencias como apropiado
para enseñarle al estudiante la importancia de obedecer las reglas y
procedimientos.
